From Military To Media

I’ve spent more than 35 years in broadcasting and media, from my early days as a freelance sports reporter with the European Golf Tour, ITN/IRN and news editor on local radio to a 25-year spell as a BBC broadcast journalist and presenter. Before broadcasting, I served for 14 years in the military, an experience that instilled discipline, adaptability, and leadership — qualities that later proved invaluable in both journalism and coaching. Along the way, I’ve interviewed everyone from Ministers to sports stars, covered breaking news, and, for the past four years, hosted a national radio show. These experiences have taught me one thing above all: effective communication can and does change outcomes.

Broadcast Confidence - Boardroom Impact

Today, I use that experience to help senior leaders and teams sharpen their message, build confidence, and engage audiences. I’ve worked with blue-chip companies, public sector organisations, and international brands — designing training that feels practical, not theoretical. Whether it’s preparing for a high-stakes media interview, delivering a keynote, or simply leading a team meeting, my focus is on making you clear, credible, and compelling.

Effective Communication Isn’t a Skill - It’s a Superpower

When I’m not coaching or presenting, you’ll find me broadcasting on Boom Radio, writing about communication, or running my 450,000-member Facebook gardening community — proof that with the right message, any audience can grow.
